Science Intent
At Gatcombe Park Primary school, we aim to develop children as scientists who demonstrate these characteristics:
- Curiosity, passion and excitement.
- A secure understanding of the world around them, built on prior knowledge, and that it is ever-changing.
- Ability to make links between knowledge and application across the curriculum and in their lives.
- Communicate their knowledge verbally, through reporting scientific findings and in solving challenging problems in different contexts.
- Competence and confidence in practical skills, becoming independent in planning and carrying out scientific investigations.
- Think independently and raise questions about working scientifically and the knowledge and skills that arise.
- Confidence to embrace the unknown and welcome doubt.
